The Bed Project
About the Mission.
Wakefield UMC established this mission in January 2023. Sleep is essential for overall physical and mental health. A bed is a basic need; however, this is an unmet need in our area. For example, we are aware that children may be sleeping on the floor or sharing a bed with their sibling. Wakefield UMC has an opportunity to serve by building twin beds and providing a mattress, sheets, blanket and pillow to ensure these children sleep comfortably.
The need and volunteer responses were so great that by March 2023, Wakefield UMC built a total of 20 beds and delivered them to homes in Granville County, Nash County, and Franklin County.
How to Participate.
Please consider supporting this ongoing mission by attending build days and/or delivering beds to homes. Adults of all ages are welcome, and youth that have attended an ASP Sensitivity and Tool Training are able to participate as well. Donations are helpful to fund the supplies for this mission and can be submitted online, through Text2Give, or by check.
