Wakefield Wednesday – August 14th

Throughout the month of August, we will be focusing on God’s desire for us to love ourselves exactly the way we are. God created us with purpose and wants us to see ourselves the way God sees us – as precious, wonderful, and fearfully made.
To love ourselves well, we must learn to be kind to ourselves even in our struggles, and be intentional about caring for our physical, mental, and spiritual needs.
Our two Wakefield Wednesdays will provide us with tools on how to tend to the needs of our own souls, and how to be a source of help and strength to those in our lives who are struggling.
What will we learn?
Praying the Psalms in Today’s World: On August 14th, we’ll explore how the Psalms and music can give us the tools we need to pray and process our emotions. We’ll dive into what the Psalms are, who wrote them, and how they are still relevant today.
Carrying Each Other’s Burdens: On August 21st, Rev. Kelli Walker Jones, former director of Triangle Pastoral Counseling, will lead us in exploring how we can best support those around us who may be dealing with anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. Come ready to learn some helpful tools that will help us be a source of strength for our loved ones.
What’s available for children and youth?
Childcare will be available for children ages 5 and under, and Mrs. Mandy will have special activities planned for K-5th graders that will help them learn how to explore their feelings and support their friends in need.
Youth are encouraged to either attend the adult sessions, or volunteer to work with the children.
What’s for Dinner?
Dinner is served from 6:00-6:30pm and our programs will last from 6:30-7:30pm. Cost is $7 per person ($25 max per family of 4+). The menu will be:

Aug 21st– Fried Chicken, Mac & Cheese, Green Beans, Salad, & Dessert
