IGNITE Children's Ministry
The children’s ministry of Wakefield United Methodist Church exists to develop life-long followers of Christ through education, fellowship, and mission opportunities. We seek to invite, engage, and strengthen children to share God’s love in their families, community, and beyond.
Nursery.
Our paid nursery staff provide a safe and loving environment for your little ones while you are worshipping.
We have a lovely space for infants and toddlers ages 0-2, in addition to our preschool classroom for ages 3-5.
Check-In
Children are checked in ahead of time using our label system and parents/guardians pick them up when service is over.
Family First
Our young families are a growing group that get together from time to time for play dates and to welcome new families.
Sunday School.
Elementary children grades K-5 are welcome to attend classes where they encounter a Bible story and engage in games, crafts, and other activities.
Participation
Children participate in the first 10 minutes of worship for music and liturgy. They are then dismissed to their classrooms (lower and upper elementary).
1st Sundays
On the first Sunday of the month, K-5th graders are invited to attend the full worship service with parents or guardians.
Worship Activities
We seek to make the worship service hospitable and relatable to the children who are present by providing at-your-seat activities, which vary month to month.
Flame Junior Youth Group.
4th-5th grade elementary kids are invited to a monthly junior youth group meeting for fun, fellowship, and going deeper with God. This group meets on the 4th Sunday of the month at the same time as youth group.
VBS.
Wakefield UMC offers Vacation Bible School to kids in Preschool through 5th grade. It is a free week of fellowship and learning with daytime and evening options. VBS is free and offered to kids in Preschool through 5th grade.
Christmas Musical.
Each year children are invited to participate in a children’s musical depicting the story of Jesus’ birth. Rehearsals begin in September with a performance for the whole congregation in December.
Youth Ministry.
For youth 6th-12th grade, please check out our FUEL program. The Children’s Ministry Team are so excited about what God is doing in the life of WUMC through the children’s program.
