What is UMCOR?

The United Methodist Committee on Relief assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need. UMCOR comes alongside those who suffer from natural or human-caused disasters – to alleviate suffering and serve as a source of help and hope for the vulnerable. UMCOR does this through:

• Humanitarian Relief & Recovery
• Global Health
• Evangelism & Church Revitalization
• Missionaries

 How has Wakefield UMC supported UMCOR?

Disaster Relief in North Carolina

• We have assembled and donated relief supply kits.
• Our church sent teams to areas in NC affected by Hurricane Matthew and Florence.
• 12 one-day service trips were made to Fayetteville/Rocky mount areas between 2017 – 2019.
• Over 70+ volunteers, with 1200+ hours of service

How can we continue to support UMCOR?

Pray

• UMCOR’s work is strengthened by the power of prayer – both in the hours after a disaster strikes and through recovery.

Volunteer

• Volunteer efforts are arranged through annual conferences.
• Volunteers must be 18 years or older. Construction experience not needed. All are welcome.

Give

• Financial gifts help provide support where it is most needed.
